Me, I liek the Perment Shack more, Easyer to Heat, and you do not have to bother dragging them on/off the Ice every dayBUT a Moble Shack has its Advantages as well I Myself has 3 ice hut, 2 Permant and 1 Moble.

If Possible I use 2 lines, 1 jigging 1 still with LIVE bait. If I have to only use 1 line I have no preferance, I will jig some then drop a Still Minnow down for abit.

I have used all 3 Methods of getting throw the ice, but I perfer this: 4"-6" Chissle or Hand Auger, 6"-9" Hand Auger, over 9" Power auger.

Fish finders and Flashers, not really, I use a Fishfinder the odd Time but not alot.

    Best Fish Ice Fishing:
14 and 9 Pound Lake trout, 1.75Lb Perch, 2 lbs crappie, 2.5 lbs Ling

I like a portable because thats all I know. Although my one portable is kinda a permanent since it doesn't move much during the winter, it just sits over the basin in Callander Bay. But my Pak Shack 3 is what I've been using the most this year. It has now paid for itself. I would really like to buy a frabill flip over style hut. The one with the sled built in. Or a Clam fish trap would do nicely as well... Something I can tow behind a snowmobile.

    I use either,
1 line under a slip bobber and 1 jigging rod
    2 slip bobber set ups
1 tip up and 1 jigging rod

I have all 3 but use the gas auger for the majority of the season. I also use the spud in early season when the ice is less than 8 inches. As it is good excercise and quicker and lighter than other augers especially a gas auger. I have a hand auger but it is a hand me down with dull blades as I tried it once. When I have some time I'll take off the blades and sharpen them to use for next year. The ice is more than a foot and a half so my Jiffy Gas Auger is getting a workout.

I used a hand held fish finder I got off ebay. It worked well even though the price was cheap, until it was dropped on the ice one too many times. I saw a nice one by humming bird I believe that was a flasher and a scroll style readout and also had a nice lighted display. I think that would help me find the spot on the spot, given enough time to play with it. A Fish Tv would be awesome too but certainly not necessary. I would like to hook one up to a cannon ball in the summer time and troll for muskie like I saw in the fishing documentary Muskies Live The Video Trolling System!

Best Fish! I can't count em anymore. My best one of the wnter is a 5.5 pound walleye. 5 Pound Ling last winter. Never caught a Lake Trout ice fishing however.
