Jenn and I made the trip to Lake Joseph to ice fish for Lake Trout with Conger and Reaper. The lake is absolutely stunning in it's beauty and structure abundant lake! Numerous bays, islands, points, deep water, this is a fishermans paradise! This is my first time icefishing for Lake Trout and also my first time fishing on Lake Jospeph. We arrived sunday and were on the ice in the early afternoon after picking up some minnows from Mactier Bait and Tackle. The bite was hot when we got set up and soon everyone was getting bites and some Lake Trout were flopping on the ice. On monday we stopped at Huronia Bait and Tackle for some even bigger shiners (5-6 inches) to try for the BIG Lake Trout. We got out there and couldn't get our lines down quick enough. Then later in the afternoon the wind and cold picked up as the low pressure system passed and the bite shut off and by 5:30 we had called it a day. We never did get a big one but heard some reports of bigger trout caught. We had a great 2 days on Lake Joseph and can not wait to make a return trip for another go at a Big Lake Trout!!! We made some new fishing friends and I definetely learned some new lake trout fishing techniques and knowledge. Thankyou Marty and Ryan.
