This is my first year heating with wood as this is my first house. I live up north just outside of NorthBay and I cut and split not quite 30 cords. I had 21 cords as of December 1st and it is March 5th now and I have about 7 cords left. With these recent sunny and warmer days I havn't had to burn throughout the day. This year was quite a learning experience and although I had some minor setbacks such as bending my bar overall I think I did very well. It was also quite a workout as I split it all by hand! I cut my own cubics from the bush so I didn't have to pay for the wood. My only expense was chains, bar chain oil, gas and oil. I figure I saved over two thousand dollars if I had to heat my home otherwise as I have electric heat. I'm not stupid as the price of electricity here is unreal and have not turned it on once. How many cords are you guys burning?
