We are planning a trip to the Sandy and Iron Island area next weekend and I was just wondering does anyone know how deep the walleye are sitting and what they are biting on.

I have been having success at 28 feet or so...cathcing most of jigging spoons, macho minnows, etc tipped with minnow head...

hi rusty do you know where to access to sandy island, we were planning to drive out on the car but dont know where to drive off, any help much apreciated!

fishhunter----not exactly sure but I've been told we can drive off nipissing st. onto the lake. We went last year and snowmobiled across quite a drive on a snowmobile. This year we are gonna drive a 4x4 across as long as it is safe. Seen tons of vehicles last winter on the ice .If you have any information on the ice thickness would you please let me know. We caught quite a few walleye, perch and a few pike and ling last year around duck island as well. When are you going up we plan to next weekend.

Be Warned I watched this on last night's news... There is a gigantic pressure crack across the mouth of south bay to Lonely Island. The video on the news showed a lot of open water. Apparently the strong winds did that.
