Hi sinman, Welcome! I would suggest keep moving until you find fish. I would try close to rocky islands and shoals in 9-20 feet of water. Walleye will be feeding in anticipation of the spawn and will be near the general areas of the spring walleye spawn. Jigging will put walleye on the ice as oppossed to simply dunking a minnow.

    tackle suggestions

Thanks for the advice Marc, I'll have to ask Henry what is available for rocky islands and shoals. Any suggestions and tackle? We're likely forced to use whatever minnows they offer at the camp, sa we will not have aeration, but I would certainly appreciate suggestions on lures, jig head size, colours, line thickness....LOL...ANYTHING TO PUT SOME FISH ON THE ICE!!!! HAHAHA

Try 8-10lbs florocarbon line, try grabbing some Live Worms (I know Tramblys Tackle Box In Orilla has them in stock) and maybe some Gulp Alive bait, (minnow heads, leeches, ect...) Airplane Jigs, Small #30 or smaller Willims spoons, Little cleo Spoons(glow in the dark if you can find them)
Kids that Hunt, Fish or Trap don't rob little Old Ladys.

I use 8 in the summer but 6lb test in the winter because the water clears up a bit. Berkely realistixs shad jigs have put the most walleye on ice this winter especially on Nosbonsing. It is simply a scented plastic minnow on a jig. The key is to keep your jigging active. Also macho minnows in green/yellow/orange tipped with or without bait. Also a chub under a tip up with just barely enough weight to get it close to bottom will also take a share of eyes from beneath the ice. For minnows try Trapper Joes for $4/dozen creek chubs and all you have to do is throw your money in a can in the refridgerator!

I know birchhill camp has great owners. They are the only place on Nosbonsing that has fishing licences for sale and they sure are nice. I like fishing Maple Cove in the summer but havn't made it their this winter as I don't have a snowmobile. Let us know how the accomodations are...
